Born from a passion for craft, Lineage was started in 2016 by Paul Hansbarger in Harrisonburg, Virginia. In 2018, we opened a brick and mortar location in downtown Harrisonburg and in 2021, we opened a second retail location in Richmond.
Lineage began with a simple request from Paul's then pregnant wife Jessica for a diaper bag for their soon to be born daughter. Since then, more designs have come together, constantly refining and redesigning, while family and friends have asked for a bag of their own. The idea behind Lineage was to create simple, stylish, and durable, heirloom quality bags and accessories for utility and everyday use. Since the beginning it has been our intention to create useful, elegant products with the best materials possible, cut and sewn with our own hands, and ultimately, that could stand the rigors of everyday life and be passed on to our children.
Lineage bags, accessories, and candles are made by hand in our Richmond, Virginia studio.
Lineage uses waxed cotton canvas and full grain, vegetable tanned leather sourced from small, family owned US mills and tanneries. Both waxed canvas and vegetable tanned leather will take on unique character and patina, and will soften and darken over time with everyday use. This is all part of the story of your bag and where its been.
Lineage guarantees the workmanship, quality and materials of its handcrafted products. If there is a defect in our manufacturing or materials, we will repair the bag or item at our discretion. Normal wear and tear, abuse, and cosmetic damage which do not affect the functionality of the item are not covered. Shipping expenses are the responsibility of the customer. Please email for any questions and instructions regarding a bag repair.
Please keep in mind that handmade products may include slight cosmetic imperfections that do not affect functionality of your bag. These simply add character and make each bag truly one of a kind.
Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase for new, unused items in their original packaging for a refund or exchange. Please contact us at the email address below for instructions before returning an item. Returned items will be carefully inspected before an exchange or refund will be issued.
The customer is responsible for all shipping costs required for returns and replacement items, and will be invoiced by email at the time of the return for these expenses.
If requesting a refund, shipping costs will be subtracted from your refund amount, including the free shipping you received at the time of purchase. For example, you purchased a bag for $128 and got free shipping. We spent $10 on shipping to get it to you, then $10 on a return shipping label to get it back to us. You will receive a refund of $108.
Custom-made items and sale or clearance items are not eligible for return or exchange.
